SunEdison has announced the opening of a key office in San Francisco. The SunEdison Northern California base will lead the company's integrated services development efforts, focusing on integrated solar monitoring and control systems with load management services.
The San Francisco office is the fourth office in California for solar energy services provider. SunEdison has more than 210 employees across California and 380 employees in total.
SunEdison established the industry's solar energy services model and the solar power services agreement (SPSA). SunEdison provides solar energy services under SPSAs to the nation's top retailers and several California public entities, including the city of San Diego, Port of Oakland, and California State University. SunEdison has more than 95 commercially operating solar power plants under management in California, totaling more than 27 MW.
Under the SPSA model, SunEdison finances, builds, manages, monitors and maintains distributed and utility-scale solar systems for leading organizations, which purchase the solar energy services under long-term predictably-priced contracts.
According to Thomas (Tom) Rainwater, CEO of SunEdison, "California is a cornerstone in solar energy deployments and the opening of this office in San Francisco will strengthen our presence in an important region for SunEdison. We are pleased to be leading our integrated services development from one of the most innovative regions in the world."
