OPEL Solar International has announced that Grape Solar has selected OPEL Solar as its exclusive, worldwide supplier of solar trackers for its solar projects. This is OPEL's first exclusive supply agreement with a major photovoltaic panel manufacturer and supplier, and it establishes recognition that OPEL Solar's tracking systems are a preferred industry choice.
This announcement follows just days after the recent OPEL Solar announcement of receiving the award of a turnkey solar PV installation for the Town of Newtown Connecticut that will include OPEL Solar Trackers and Grape Solar panels, both of which will be manufactured in the USA. The 95 kW Newtown project will supply power to the town's waste water treatment facility.
Leon M. Pierhal, OPEL Solar CEO, indicated, "We are excited about providing our trackers to Grape Solar and their fast growing international operations. Grape has an impressive product line of high efficiency PV panels from both China and U.S. manufacturing locations, with plans for additional expansion to Ontario, Canada. We expect that Grape's close alliances with leading solar integrators and engineering firms will greatly enhance OPEL's sales channels and, that Grape Solar will become a key supplier of PV Panels to OPEL's tracker customers."
Pierhal continued, "OPEL Solar's recently awarded project for the Town of Newtown and the associated State grant money the town will receive for the project were both award through public, competitive bid processes. The award of the both the Project by Newtown and the state grant award to Newtown confirm that the combination of OPEL Solar Trackers and Grape Solar panels provide a winning combination."
Grape selected the OPEL trackers after an industry review of the quality and value of trackers from other suppliers. Grape's CEO, Ocean Yuan said, "OPEL Solar trackers are a great match for our Grape PV panels. Grape's focus is making photovoltaic power more affordable and accessible. The combination of OPEL single axis trackers with Grape's PV panels results in more than 24% additional energy production depending on the location.
This increased energy production can be in excess of 44% when using OPEL's dual axis trackers. Grape will be marketing the OPEL trackers to our direct customers which include approximately 5,000 independent installers in North America. The OPEL line of trackers is an outstanding match to our line of Grape Solar panels, including our 280 Watt and 390 Watt panels. We expect this to be an excellent alliance for both companies and for our customers."
While Grape has selected OPEL Solar as their exclusive tracker supplier, OPEL Solar has chosen to refrain from exclusive agreements with PV panels manufactures and other Solar equipment and service provider. OPEL Solar's tracker product line can be matched with any type of solar panel technology, providing for unlimited flexibility for integrators and engineering firms.
