New England Clean Energy has been selected as the installer for LittleBoxSolar, a joint solar initiative between the towns of Littleton and Boxborough, Mass.; and has already signed its first agreement with a Boxborough homeowner, for a 9,380-watt residential solar energy system.
Site visits for LittleBoxSolar began July 1. The program runs through Oct. 30. The program is a focused effort to increase the use of solar power to benefit property owners and guide the communities of Boxborough and Littleton toward a sustainable environment.
The community solar program offers a tiered pricing system in which the more kilowatts of solar installed, the lower the price for all participants. The goal of the program is to install at least 50 systems total in the two towns.
"We're thrilled to be working with New England Clean Energy, which has been very successful working in the Solarize type environment. Clean Energy was the installer for a very successful community solar project in Stow last year, which went far beyond expectations, and the company has worked on three state-sponsored Solarize programs as well," said Francie Nolde, LittleBoxSolar Co-Coach.
Co-Coach Sarah Rambacher said, "Our proposal review team worked very hard to fairly and accurately compare some very good proposals. We are confident that residents will get the highest value with New England Clean Energy. Not only are they installing high-quality equipment, Clean Energy has provided outstanding warranties, and their customer service track record is top notch."
"The early interest in LittleBoxSolar bodes very well for the success of the program. Homeowners realize that the significant discounts on their LittleBoxSolar systems combined with net metering, SREC income, and state and federal tax credits, make solar a better deal than ever. We will be working hard to spread the benefits of solar to local businesses as well," said Mark Durrenberger, president of New England Clean Energy.
