Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) has announced it was awarded a contract extension by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) for the Unified NASA Information Technology Services (UNITeS) contract to continue providing a broad range of information technology (IT) services in support of the NASA Information Technology Service Network.
The extension has an eight-month base period of performance, valued at more than $36 million, and options that would total 14 months of performance for the continuation of services through March of 2012. The total value of the extension is more than $62 million if all options are exercised.
The extension provides agency-wide information services and integration support, and also supports the NASA Enterprise Applications Competency Center by providing system administration and mainframe operations administered by NASA's George C. Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala.
Under the contract extension, SAIC will continue to provide IT services including managing worldwide network services; audio-visual services; telecommunications; IT procurement, security; and computing and mainframe system support.
"We have provided the critical IT services necessary to operate and maintain NASA's set of integrated enterprise services since 2004," said Doug Wagoner, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager.
"We look forward to continuing to provide these services to all ten NASA field centers, NASA Headquarters in Washington, the NASA Shared Services Center, and international NASA partners to support NASA's focus on pioneering the future in space exploration, scientific discovery and aeronautics research."
