Mexens Technology has announced that it has received a patent from the US Patent and Trademark Office for its "System and Method for Enabling Continuous Geographic Location Estimation for Wireless Computing Devices" (US Patent No. 7397424).
"We are delighted that the Patent Office recognized the innovative nature of our system combining GPS and Wireless positioning technologies at the core of the Navizon system," declared Cyril Houri, founder and CEO of Mexens Technology.
"With this patent, our company demonstrates once again that it is at the forefront of the innovations in the Location Based Services space."
Mexens Technology was founded in early 2005 and released Navizon, the first positioning system combining GPS, Wifi and Cellular technologies, in July of 2005.
Navizon relies on a collaborative database assembled by its global community of users.
As of July 2008 Navizon has been downloaded by more than 700,000 users worldwide.
The Navizon Positioning System is available for many mobile platforms such as the iPhone, Blackberry, Windows Mobile, Symbian/S60 devices as well as some Java enabled phones.
