An Afghan working for NATO-led troops in eastern Afghanistan was abducted and found shot and hanging from a tree three days later, the force said Thursday, blaming the murder on insurgents.
The body of the abducted contractor, who had been working on a road project, was found last Friday in Kapisa province which borders the capital Kabul, the International Security Assistance Force said, condemning the killing.
"A local-national contractor who worked on road construction projects for ISAF forces was found murdered three days after being kidnapped by insurgents in Kapisa province last week," he said.
"During his captivity, he was shot three times and killed," it said.
A brutal insurgency in Afghanistan, led by Islamic extremists, has picked up pace in the past few years with attacks most often targeted at Afghan and international troops.
Insurgents have also warned ordinary Afghans not to work for the forces.
