Hypergiant Industries announces the debut of the prototype of its first node in its Chameleon Constellation, an updatable satellite and software system that adds additional distributed computing power for various use cases. The Chameleon Constellation will utilize the United States' Air Force's secure, hardened, and accredited Platform One system as the foundational layer for the constellation's architecture.
The partnership with Platform One and Space Camp Software Factory will ensure that the Air Force has superior technical advantages in Space with the ability to update satellites' functionality and mission profiles on the fly based on real-time emergent scenarios and information.
"Traditional satellite systems need years to build because the hardware and software both need to be complete before they can launch," said Hypergiant CEO Ben Lamm.
"But that's not fast enough anymore. We in collaboration with the United States Air Force are designing, building and launching a system that is reconfigurable and can be updated in real time. This has a multitude of use case scenarios in both war and peace time space situational awareness."
This will benefit anyone who wants to put up a satellite quickly but also wants to update it to meet evolving security conditions and mission requirements. The full realization of this constellation is an extremely flexible and intelligent on-orbit solution that can transform and evolve functionality on the fly, providing value and durability that far exceeds traditional static satellite configurations.
"We need to be able to put assets in space as quickly as possible and then continuously improve them to maintain superiority," said USAF Major Rob Slaughter, Director of the Department of Defense's Platform One.

The only difference between a national security system and space junk is the software that operates it. Americans deserve the best space protections possible."

Hypergiant has already completed four deployed missions (NG10, NG11, NG12 and NG13) with a one hundred percent mission success rate and has worked with NASA, Army Space, DARPA, Lynk, Dynetics and Amazon Web Services.
