Wireless data communications leader CalAmp and u-blox have announced their strategic collaboration on a series of Mobile Resource Management (MRM) products that leverage the power of super-sensitive u-blox 5 global positioning satellite (GPS) wireless technology.
CalAmp and u-blox have worked together to launch the advanced GPS technology across CalAmp's telematics, Automated Vehicle Location and GPS tracking systems. The LMU1000(TM), LMU1500(TM), and LMU4100(TM) products are the first of CalAmp's product lines to incorporate u-blox 5 technology.
Market applications for the products include fleet management, vehicle finance, vehicle theft recovery, cargo monitoring, public security and public transit.
The super-sensitive GPS technology, combined with fully enclosed GPS and cellular antennas, greatly improves the tracking performance and ease of installation of CalAmp's LMU-series location tracking products.
CalAmp believes the superior sensitivity and accuracy of the new products will improve tracking performance for existing customers while enabling new market applications as a result of the broader and more flexible installation options made possible by the innovative antenna designs.
"The combination of CalAmp's latest LMU products and u-blox 5 technology provides unrivalled performance for popular MRM applications," said Michael Burdiek, President of CalAmp's Wireless DataCom Division.
"We expect professionally installed products will exhibit greatly improved GPS tracking performance, while the new enclosed GPS and cellular antenna designs can simplify the installation process and enable new consumer applications. We look forward to the future growth of our business and our relationship with u-blox."
"Thanks to u-blox 5's superb performance, even in adverse environments such as urban canyons and indoor locations, CalAmp was able to create a telematics unit with very flexible placement options," said Nikolaos Papadopoulos, President of u-blox America.
"CalAmp's customers now have more options to install the tele-matics system in the vehicle without compromising performance while also reducing installation time and effort."
