Spirent Federal Systems has been consistently selected as the GPS simulator provider for key government programs. Rockwell Collins and Raytheon chose Spirent simulation systems in support of their Modernized User Equipment (MUE) Receiver Card Development contracts with the U.S. Air Force's Global Positioning Systems (GPS) Wing.
The GPS modernization effort is a system-wide program that includes upgrades to the space, control and user segments.
The Spirent systems provided include a fully-approved classified package, integrated interference/jamming signal generation, Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) M-code and Simulator Data Sets (SDS) M-code capabilities.
Honeywell, the subcontractor responsible for avionics on NASA's Orion Project, has recently selected a Spirent GPS/Inertial simulator to develop, integrate and verify the navigation system for Orion.
The Orion crew capsule is part of NASA's Constellation Program, which is developing a new human space transportation system that will send explorers to the International Space Station, the moon and beyond in coming decades.
The system provided for the Orion project includes multiple SimINERTIAL units-Spirent inertial interfaces that enable Honeywell engineers to emulate inertial sensor output while concurrently simulating GPS radio frequency signals.
Additionally, Spirent simulators have been chosen for work on JPALS, the International Space Station, Targets and Countermeasures (T and C), Joint Standoff Weapon Program, Target Launch Vehicle (TLV) and the U.S. Navy's Guidance Integrated Fuze (GIF), to name just a few.
Spirent is the provider of choice because of its commitment to keep abreast of the latest technology. For over 20 years, Spirent has been first in producing simulation systems that allow developing and testing in advance of actual satellite or signal deployment.
Spirent is known to have quality products, on-time delivery and the most-qualified support team in the world of GPS/GNSS simulation.
"It is these factors that are critical when deciding who you will use to develop a major defense system," commented Ellen Hall, President of Spirent Federal. "These programs are essential to our nation's security, and Spirent Federal can be trusted to give accurate, reliable results."
