SOLON has been awarded a contract for the design and construction of a 15 mega-watt (MW) solar power plant in California for Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG and E), which supplies natural gas and electric service to approximately 15 million people in northern and central California.
Construction of the plant will start in April 2011 and is scheduled for completion by October 2011.
The system will utilize SOLON's Velocity MW cluster concept with fixed tilt mounting and SOLON's SCADA system for remote control and monitoring. The power plant will be constructed in the vicinity of Fresno in central California.
The 15 MW project is part of PG and E's 250 MW Utility Owned Generation (UOG) PV Program, a five-year plan for the construction of utility owned solar power plants. SOLON successfully constructed PG and E's pilot project in late 2009, for which it received PG and E's "Generation Supplier of the Year" award last year.
This additional order enables SOLON to further expand its position as a supplier of turnkey power plant solutions for major energy suppliers in the U.S.
