Rx Networks announces GPStream SUPL, a SUPL 1.0 standards-compliant client solution with extended ephemeris capability designed to reduce GPS start up times of mobile handsets and deliver a "Click'n Go" user experience even when operating outside of SUPL or wireless coverage.

While the GPStream SUPL client can be licensed standalone basis and operate in full compliance with the SUPL 1.0 industry standard, it is unique in its ability to also generate its own GPS assistance data, whether from previously received SUPL assistance, actual broadcast ephemeris or from lightweight GPS constellation model data received from a remote GPStream server. When standard SUPL assistance data is not available, the GPStream SUPL client seamlessly reverts to on-board extended ephemeris assistance data, thereby maintaining the highest AGPS performance in virtually any condition without the need for any mobile network infrastructure upgrade.

"GPStream SUPL provides GPS chipset and device vendors with an integrated AGPS client architecture that maintains fast GPS performance where and when mobile users need it the most — even while roaming or beyond wireless coverage" said Guylain Roy-MacHabee, President and CEO of Rx Networks. "GPStream's integration of extended ephemeris support with SUPL 1.0 standard compliance ensures high end-user satisfaction regardless of the operating environment."

AGPS Performance

Real time GPS accuracy when operating in SUPL mode and 10m to 30m horizontal accuracy for up to 7 days in extended ephemeris mode.

High Availability

Click'n Go performance becomes available globally, whether connected to a SUPL capable network or not.

Easy Integration

Operating System (OS) calls are abstracted from the core design and a common API command set across the entire GPStream product base ensures easy integration, upgrades and migration between different GPStream modules.

Open Architecture

Design once. Reuse. GPStream SUPL is AGPS chipset and device agnostic. This common architecture is easily ported between different hardware vendors simplifying vendor management and software revision control.

Low Network Overhead

Using GPStream SUPL with other GPStream extended ephemeris technologies results in the lowest possible network overhead. For instance, when used with GPStream PGPS extended ephemeris technology, only 2KB weekly downloads are required. This is at least ten times smaller than proposed SUPL 2.0 or existing chipset proprietary extended ephemeris solutions, making the GPstream SUPL extended ephemeris support cost effective even over narrowband network transmissions.
