NAVTEQ has teamed-up with El Palacio de Hierro, one of the leading department stores in Mexico, to implement GPS Zones in ten retail stores located in Mexico City, Monterrey, Puebla and Guadalajara. As the first major department store in Mexico to strategically promote GPS navigation, El Palacio de Hierro began rolling out GPS Zones in stores throughout Mexico in late August.
GPS Zones are interactive kiosks that help educate consumers on the benefits of navigation using educational tools like collateral and videos.
Additionally, they provide consumers with the opportunity to interact with and test out the latest, premium brand Portable Navigation Devices (PNDs), like Garmin, Magellan, Mio and Panasonic, which incorporate the NAVTEQ map for Mexico.

The NAVTEQ map for Mexico includes 2,454 cities, almost 450,000 km of roads and covers the entire population. Twenty-three percent of that population is covered at NAVTEQ's highest quality levels: road network attribute verification, a specification distinctive to NAVTEQ maps.
In addition to road network coverage, the Mexico map contains a full set of features including 58,000 points of interest (PoIs) such as restaurants, hotels, gas stations and banks enabling users to select their destination either by address or the PoI listing.
