The Sultanate of Oman has taken delivery of the first two of eight Hawk advanced trainer jets from BAE systems, the company announced on Monday.
The Mark 166 aircraft arrived at Masirah Air Base on Saturday, just days after the arrival of the first Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft that Oman ordered at the same time in 2012.
BAE Systems, together with Alenia Aermacchi (Leonardo since 2017), and the Airbus Group, is a member of the consortium that manufactures the Typhoon.
The first Hawk and Typhoon aircraft were formally presented to the customer at a ceremony held at BAE Systems' Military Air & Information business in Britain in May, BAE said in a press release.
The Hawk is a single-engine jet trainer. More than 1,000 are in operation around the word.
