Two NATO soldiers were killed Tuesday in southern Afghanistan, the alliance said, bringing to eight the total number to die in the country in less than 24 hours, after a massive suicide bombing in Kabul.
ISAF said one solider was killed by an improvised explosive device (IED), the weapon of choice for Taliban. The other died in a small arms attack.
The organisation did not give details of the exact location of either death, nor did it give the nationality of the two soldiers.
According to a tally kept by AFP, based on figures provided by the independent icasualties.org website, 210 foreign soldiers have died in Afghanistan since the beginning of the year.
Taliban-led militants have stepped up assaults on the Afghan government and its Western backers as part of their nine-year insurgency against the regime and 130,000 US-led foreign troops in the country.
Tuesday was a bad day for NATO, with six soldiers — five Americans and one Canadian — killed in a devastating suicide bombing in the capital during morning rush hour.
The attack, which was claimed by the Taliban, also killed 12 civilians and wounded 47 more, the government said.
