Frederic Lemoine, the chairman at French nuclear energy group Areva, has tendered his resignation after accepting a position at another major French group, an internal document showed Wednesday.
"I have decided to accept the chairmanship of another quoted French company," Lemoine wrote to the secretary of the supervisory board Bernard de Gouttes in a letter obtained by AFP.
"I have the honour of tendering my resignation," he added. The letter said the resignation would be effective from April 10.
France's Le Figaro newspaper, citing unnamed sources, reported Wednesday that he had joined Wendel, an investment firm.
Lemoine has been Areva's chairman since 2005.
