Anti-capitalist protesters will hold a demonstration on Friday in Copenhagen, the venue for UN climate talks, over what they say is the exploitation of the global warming threat by big business.
The group calling itself "Our Climate – Not Your Business" argues industry is "turning our climate crisis into their business opportunity" and that "corporations are not part of the solution, they are the problem."
"Right now, 122 of the world's companies are responsible for 80 percent of the total global CO2 emissions," a statement published on their website said.
The group calls on supporters to meet in Kongens Nytorv, a large square in the centre of the Danish capital, at 10:00 am (0900 GMT).
They say they will disrupt meetings connected to the UN-backed climate talks as well as protest against businesses with links to the negotiations.
"Within Copenhagen there are many corporations involved in the destruction of the planet and greewashing (sic) of false solutions," the Not Your Business statement said.
"We will take direct action against these corporations to disrupt business and shut them down for the day using a diversity of tactics," it added.
A Danish police official said officers would turn a blind eye to the demonstrators, who did not inform authorities of plans to hold a rally, as long as they refrain from violence.
"We will be flexible provided it does not go beyond the limits of respect for public order," Commissioner Lars-Christian Borg told AFP.
Early on Wednesday morning, police seized pliers, pots of paint, spray paint, 200 wooden shields and folding ladders in a raid on a Copenhagen squat where a number of foreign activists were staying, Borg said.
"We believe this type of equipment can only be used for vandalism and to break through police barriers," he added.
Police in Denmark have mobilised more than half of the country's forces to provide security for the UN meeting.
More than 500 NGOs will hold their own demonstration on Saturday, marching from Christiansborg Castle to the Bella Center, where the conference is being held.
