Flash floods and landslides triggered by heavy rains killed at least 10 people in northern Pakistan, officials said Monday.
Several mudbrick houses and shops were also destroyed as torrential rains and lightning lashed Rah Nolia town in Kohistan district late Sunday, local police officer Mohammad Waziri said.
"So far we have recovered 10 bodies, including five men, one woman and four children," Waziri told AFP by telephone.
At least three more people were feared trapped in the debris, he said, adding that police and residents were engaged in a search operation.
Torrential rains also swept away a key bridge and link roads in the area causing difficulties for the relief work, Waziri said. Rescue teams had to reach the affected area by foot.
Pakistan has suffered a wave of extreme weather in recent months.
Floods unleashed by a tropical cyclone and torrential monsoon rain in the south and southwest of the country in June claimed more than 200 lives and affected 1.65 million people.
