Russia's Rosatom buys German nuclear unit: company
Berlin (AFP) Aug 18, 2009 Russia's state-owned nuclear energy giant Rosatom is buying Germany's Nukem Technologies, a specialist in decommissioning nuclear power stations, a Nukem spokeswoman said Tuesday. Rosatom is already in a nuclear energy joint venture with Germany's Siemens. The deal comes after Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and German Chancellor Angela Merkel last week called for a "strategic" economic partnership between their two countries following talks in the Russian city of Sochi.
