France: Framatome to supply EDF with Enriched Reprocessed Uranium fuel assemblies by Staff Writers Paris, France (SPX) May 31, 2018
Framatome will be designing, fabricating and supplying EDF with fuel assemblies using enriched reprocessed uranium* (known as "ERU")over the period 2023 to 2032 (1). These fuel assemblies, set to be manufactured at Framatome's plant in Romans-sur-Isere (Drome, France), will be destined for a number of nuclear reactors - belonging to EDF's fleet in operation - authorized to use them. Lionel Gaiffe, Senior Executive Vice President of Framatome's Fuel Business Unit, commented: "This contract is proof of the quality of Framatome's industrial solutions and capabilities, and underlines the scope of the products and services offered by the company to its electric utility customers." The Framatome Fuel Business Unit develops, designs, licenses and fabricates fuel assemblies and associated services for its electric utility customers in France and internationally. 107 out of the 278 light water reactors (excluding VVERs) in operation worldwide use Framatome technology fuel. Framatome has delivered a total of 226,000 fuel assemblies to date.
Berlin agrees to compensate power firms for nuclear exit Berlin (AFP) May 23, 2018 The German government approved a draft law Wednesday that paves the way for energy giants RWE and Vattenfall to receive hundreds of millions of euros in compensation for the country's decision to phase out nuclear power.
