British govt. says to sell commercial nuclear arm London (AFP) March 30, 2009 The British government on Monday announced it had offered for sale the commercial arm of the UK Atomic Energy Authority. "The UK Atomic Energy Authority today announced it intends to offer for sale its commercial arm, UKAEA Limited. The UK Atomic Energy Authority is wholly owned by the UK government," said a statement. UKAEA Limited provides services such as nuclear decommissioning and waste management. "As the UK moves towards an era of nuclear new build, this sale will increase efficiency, competition and value for money for the taxpayer in the decommissioning and clean up work of old nuclear power stations," said Secretary of State for Business Peter Mandelson.
